Fireproofing is a critical aspect of a building that provides protection against fire. EcoStar Insulation offers fireproofing services using prime products and quality service. We provide services for new construction, remedial or maintenance projects.
Fireproofing is now a requirement for multi-family properties and commercial buildings. Even in cases where the building is built from metal, fireproofing should not be ignored. It will keep you safe in case of fire and it serves as a coat to prevent electrical circuits from overheating.
There are several methods available to builders and architects to consider for fire prevention. Active fireproofing (AFP) refers to installing equipment that are triggered by an action such as a sprinkler system or fire extinguisher.
Passive fireproofing (PFP) is a relevant safeguard measure to be considered from the initial stages of construction and is implemented in the design elements. By using the right system, the spread of fire and smoke can be prevented successfully resulting in ample time for evacuation and the appropriate protocols to be executed. Some examples are fire doors, room compartmentalization and the installation of the fire-resistant coating.
There are different types of fireproofing applications available and our focus is mainly on cementitious and intumescent fireproofing.
The cementitious products are the most common materials used for fireproofing services. It is a single component, spray applied, mill-mixed plaster designed to protect the structural foundation of the building from failing. This can be applied to concealed and exposed steel structures.
Intumescent coatings are typically not as thick as cementitious because of their properties. They swell up when exposed to heat which ultimately slows the heating of the steel structure providing sufficient response time. It is applied as paint and has the added benefit of being used for aesthetic design purposes.
Products can be applied to steel and concrete substrates. They form a uniform base, solid bond and dust-free surface providing exceptional performance with a high yield capability and durability. The chosen products are tested and certified to the highest industry standards.
The fireproof coating is used as well to cover concrete tunnels and metal bridges and even to coat vaults. Fireproofing is made from common ingredients that are tested and suggested by the building industry, including Monokote MK-6, Cafco Blaze Shield and Cafco 300. These materials are combined with chemicals such as calcium hydroxide, mica, fibrous plasters and other combinations to speed up hardening. It does not include asbestos and it is safe to use in homes and commercial buildings.
With a range of fireproofing products available in the market, we utilize only the best materials. This includes:

I have a cottage in Muskoka, and we rent it throughout the year. We have noticed during the winter that our clients have been complaining about the heat not being good enough. After consulting it with Ecostar Insulation contractors, we decided to go with them, and I have no regrets. Out cottage has never been warmer in the winter. Great Price and Professional Work.
Every winter for the past 4 years since I moved into this house, it has been cold inside my house. I tried getting different heaters, changing the ventilation, but the problem was actually in the insulation. The house is very old, and it cost me a lot of money during the winter time. BUT not anymore!! thanks to EcoStar Insulation. I have enjoyed last winter more than anything. Great job guys and keep it up. Tom.
We had a big project on our way, and our biggest issue was who will handle the insulation part. After contacting a few companies, EcoStar Insulation has proven to us that they are very professional, and they definitely stood to their word and got this done in time and without any issues. THANKS AGAIN!!!
We just bought a new unit and as we were renovating it, we noticed there wasn’t any insulation inside. Luckily, everything was stripped and ready for insulation, so we contacted Ecostar and their professional contractors have done a phenomenal job.
